Regarding waveforms

Standard waveforms for the entire length and intermediate joints

LV TDR Cable Fault Locator with Impulse Current Testing for Accurate Fault Detection 1

Analysis: At time t1, the pulse waveform generated by the flash detector is positive (or negative); at time t2, the back pulse waveform from the intermediate joint in the cable is shown; at time t3, the full-length (terminal) reflected pulse waveform is positive, representing a reflection of the same polarity (similar to an open circuit fault); at time t4, the full-length (terminal) secondary reflected waveform is shown. Due to pulse attenuation, the secondary reflected pulse waveform at time t4 has a smaller amplitude than the primary reflected pulse waveform at time t3. The total length of the cable and the distance between the intermediate joints are also considered.
